Sick little boy

Well today was not much fun. Braxton is a sick little boy. He spiked a fever at 5am. He screamed bloody murder from 5 to 6. Tylenol was given and as soon as it kicked in he was a new child. I left at 9 and he was acting fine. I called at 1030 to see how he was doing since I was going to be gone for the day. No fever and seemed to be happy and content. At 430 Scott called me to inform me that Braxton had puss draining from his ears and not just a little bit. His shirt was covered, his face was covered and his ear was still full. Scott called in a babysitter since I was in Flint bridesmaid dress shopping and took him to Urgent Care. Braxton has a nasty ear infection and a sinus infection. When B got home his ear was still draining and the puss definitely had blood in it. Most likely what happened was a ruptured ear drum. I am not sure why his tubes didn't work...maybe they are gone I don't know but I just want him to be better and better now. I am tired of him never feeling good. He is now on Amoxicillian 3 times a day.

What a Day

First I want to say Congratulations to my friend Dawn who had a beautiful baby girl this morning. She is so precious. I am so glad that things went well and everybody is healthy.

We went to have Braxton's blood drawn today to test for Celiac's disease. We ended up at Saint Mary's lab. I never even looked at the lab slip. The peditrician's office didn't write his name on it or sign it. So they couldn't do the blood draw without it. So I called the peditrician's office and told them I needed his name and doctor signature and to please fax it to this number. Well they faxed it with Braxton's name on it but no doctor signature. So we would have to go to a different lab. Braxton knew what was taking place because he remembered this lab because he was there less than 2 weeks ago. We then headed to McDonalds to let the kids play because I had a meeting at 100 at MichWorks.

I did my running around and then we headed into Saginaw for Braxton's blood work. I have one brave little boy. Braxton took it like a champ and loves to watch them fill the tube with blood. There were no tears and he was a happy boy when they gave him 4 stickers. They were very impressed that he never pulled away or cried. I was too. We will have the results in about a week. I just want answers. I am willing to deal and handle whatever it is but I just want to have some answers. We of course are praying for negatives and that everything comes back negative but I just want to know that.

Tomorrow I am off with my best friend to look for bridesmaids dresses. It should be a fun day.

Braxton Charles Adam

Is going to drive me to my grave at a very early age. It is a darn good thing I love my children unconditionally. Tuesday night Braxton decided he was going to fight bedtime which isn't very rare lately but he usually just goes up and down the stairs 100 times. Well this night he decided differently. I tucked him in and he came up and down a couple times but then stayed put...or so I thought. After about 40 minutes of it being quiet upstairs Braxton ventured downstairs again. Well he decided to sneak into his sisters room and steal her box of crayons. He then took the BLACK crayon out and colored all over his John Deere room. It was mainly on the yellow. I was so angry with him for ruining his walls. My mom and I spent 3 days painting his bedroom. I took a Magic Eraser to it but it is still bad looking. The crayon came off but you can still see where he wrote on it. Of course I don't have any yellow paint left. The paint is ruined. This boy is such a trouble maker. He is determined to ruin everything it feels like.

Braxton has to have more lab work done. His labs came back fine before but the doctor reviewed his chart from birth on up and she wants to do further testing. We have having lab work done for Celiac's disease (they can't digest the gluten protein).

Great News!!

My niece had her CF testing on Friday. My brother and sister in law were told that if the test was positive or inconclusive they would hear back on Saturday! So far it looks like we have a big NEGATIVE on the test. No news is good news and they haven't heard anything. It is such a relief that she doesn't have CF and is just a carrier. We will know 100% for sure tomorrow when they call the peditrician's office to get the results. The protocol at Ann Arbor is not to share the results with the patients. Such a relief.

Arianna and Braxton are still feeling kinda crummy. Braxton seems to be doing some better I think. No fevers for either of them. I am pretty sure that Arianna is wheezing. I am going to have my mom listen to her tonight and she what she thinks. If she is we are off to the doctor tomorrow and I will have her checked. As long as she is going I will take Braxton in as wel since he is still coughing and is prone to bronchitis.

Lab Results

Well I got the lab results back for Braxton today. Braxton's lead results were normal which I wasn't even concerned about. His bowel movement samples came back negative for Giardia as well. The doctor is supposed to be calling me regarding what the testing entails for Celiac's disease. If it is just a simple blood draw he will have that done. If it is more extensive I may hold off for a little while and see what happens.

Pray for my niece on Friday (3/6). She is having her CF testing done...we want a Negative!

Arianna and Braxton have both been sick this week. Arianna started with a fever Sunday night and had it until Tuesday night...getting as high as 103. At midnight last night she woke up all snotty and coughy. Braxton has a clear runny nose and a nasty cough. Hopefully his little body can kick this and not need antibiotics and breathing treatments again. Everything goes straight to his lungs. It makes me mad. He doesn't deserve to be so sick.

My niece didn't have the CF testing today. She came down with 103 degree fever last night so the test was canceled because the fever can make the test inaccurate. Once she is over this virus she will go for the testing.

As of today Arianna still has a fever (day 2 1/2). It is at about 100.9 today. If she still has a fever tomorrow I will probably take her and Braxton in. Arianna has no other symptoms so I am trying to hold out. Braxton has a nasty cough and complaining that his mouth hurts which is probably really his throat. No fever though. I am giving medicine for the pain which would keep a fever at bay too. We will see what tomorrow brings. All the kids have done today is lay around and sleep. Braxton refused dinner, Arianna only wants liquids so that is what I am giving. Tonight I plan to put vapor rub on the boys feet so maybe the coughing won't be to bad. We will see.

Updates

Well not much has been happening in the Tallon house. Medical updates mainly.

Braxton went in the lab on Wednesday for a Lead blood test. No results yet on that. I also took a stool sample in on Wednesday for the Giardia infection. No news there either. I am thinking maybe today since it is a culture that they have to do. If it is negative we will have to get an order from the doctor to test for Celiac's disease. As far I as I can tell that is just a simple blood draw as well. I really don't want to do extensive testing with him if I don't have to.

We need prayers for my niece. She is 2 years old. She had a blood draw done a month ago to test for Cystic Fibrosis (her 1st cousin on the other side has CF). Her test came back with a Chromosone mutation but that is all they know. She is going on Tuesday for the sweat test to see if she is just a carrier or has the disease. How CF gets passed down is that a genetic mutation gets passed down from each parent. You have a 25% chance of having CF, a 50% chance CF carrier, and a 25% of not having the gene at all. Since she is positive it means that my brother is also a carrier which means sometime in the future I need to get my oldest two tested because I could be a carrier and you never know if Scott could be a carrier. Insurance won't cover for adults to be tested so it is like a crazy expensive test yet it is a normal lab fee to have the children tested. The results take a month to get back so it will be a waiting game. I am not going to do anything until we get my niece's results back. The prayer is that Josie is just a carrier and doesn't have the disease.

***UPDATE***
I called for lab results...the Giardia stool cultures can take a week for results. I should hear by Friday. Also the Lead results weren't back so hopefully at the end of the week.

Arianna has a 103 degree fever today with no other symptoms so please keep her in your thoughts that the fever breaks and nothing else is wrong with her.
