On Wednesday I decided to take my kids to the county fair. I wanted to see the items that my niece had entered into the fair. She did so well she took 1st place on her baby blanket, her baby hat, and her scrubbie. She took 2nd on her adult scarf and 3rd on her washcloth. She sure loves to crochet!
After seeing those items the kids wanted to head to the rides. Holy cow I am glad they do 1 price to enter and ride all you want or I would have gone broke. Makenzi and Braxton loved the rides. The faster and higher they go the better they are. Ahna only enjoyed 2 rides and 1 ride we had to make the attendant stop it because she was screaming so much...well it stopped too late and she was then traumatized forever..she wasn't getting on any more rides. Braxton and Kenzi loved the cliff hanger ride. You lay on your stomach and soar through the air.
Arianna's favorite part of the whole fair: The animals, specifically the baby chicks. She has demanded ever since that we buy her a horse, baby chicks and don't forget the goat. The other part she remembers is the pig getting loose while we were there. This poor pig was so upset (at who knows what) that it jumped the gate and was loose. We pushed the kids against the wall and had adults standing in front of them to keep them out of the pigs way so it wouldn't run into them. A bunch of guys crowded around and got the pig back in the pen. Ahna thought that was awfully funny. Ahna got to hold a baby chick and pet a baby calf that was less than 1 month old.
Lots of memories were made.

Summer fun
We have had a summer full of fun this year. We have gone to Michigan Adventure, we have camped for a week, we have had baseball games, and a Triple Birthday bash is on the horizon.
Scott had a week off in June and filled that week full of fun. On Sunday we spent our day at Michigan Adventure. Arianna was left behind since we wanted an even number of people and people big enough to ride the rides. My mom and dad offered to watch her for the time we were gone. Makenzi and Braxton each got to take a cousin along with them. They were so excited. The whole way there (3 hours) we were asked easily 100 times if we were there. The kids had a plan mapped out for what rides they wanted to ride. We spent the whole day there. Braxton is our daring child who loves to try anything. He rode roller coasters, he went down the Snake River Pit waterslides more than 15 times. The kids enjoyed the wave pool too. Makenzi isn't as big on trying new things but she did get on the Funnel of Fear with her dad and cousin. We learned that she hates to go backwards down the waterslides and it ruins all the fun for her.
Scott was able to watch both kids baseball games that week. Braxton and Kenzi both love the sport and do very well at it. Braxton hit a ball all the way to the outfield which was very impressive to me since he is only 5. He loves to play 1st base and near the pitcher (that is the area that gets the ball the most). Makenzi also had a really good hit for her dad to see and an awesome catch. She loves to play 1st and 3rd base best.
We spent the whole week at the cabin. We swam, we ate, we sat by the fire, and we slept. The kids love it at the cabin and so do I. So many memories are made. It is always more fun too when all the cousins get to come and spend the week with us.

Hello June
Well June has arrived and along with it came many different emotions.
The first few days of June I was very uneasy and just getting through the days. The memories from the year before over took all of my feelings and I was just surviving and enjoying have all 3 of my children!
Then came the sadness. Braxton graduated Preschool. He was excited, I was sad. My little boy is growing up. He had 2 of the best teachers and made so many friends. He really changed in the last year...all for the better. He loved school this year but was ready for vacation. Makenzi is also very sad that her school year is coming to an end. She is going to miss all of her friends and mostly her teacher. She had such a great year. She accomplished so much in her reading ability (she went from a reading level of 6 to a reading level of 18).
Excitement is also in the house. Baseball season is in full swing. Makenzi is playing machine pitch and Braxton is playing coach pitch. They both love the sport. Arianna also loves to go to their games because she gets to play with other kids and win over all the adults. I love it because it get to watch the kids play ball and get adult conversation!
Joy has also come because the pond is able to be used. The water is finally warm enough to be tolerated. Arianna loves the water again this year. We put a flotation swimsuit on her and she can swim all over the pond! I was wondering a week or so ago when she was so scared to even use her arms when we were holding her because she was afraid we would let go. She would say "I sink in this pond". That fear is gone and she swims like a pro!
I am looking forward to more fun this summer with the kiddos. I am still in shock that after tomorrow I am going to have a 2nd grader and a Kindergartner. I also will be a full time College student to get my RN degree! Eek

May
A few years ago May was an easy going month at the end of the school year. It was calm with beautiful weather. Things changed quickly in 2008 with the addition of our sweet baby girl and has continued to change each year as the kids get older and it becomes a really busy month at school for them.
A look at our month ahead:
Mothers day- this year it was wonderful. Each child made me a special homemade gift at school (even Ahna at her 2 playgroups). Kenzi planted me a marigold and made me a note holder. Braxton made a homemade card and a picture that said Dear Mom, Happy Mother's day I love you to pieces. Braxton. All around the saying it had puzzle pieces glued. Arianna made me 2 pictures of her hand prints with a saying in the middle and also a sun catcher. Then the kids got me a hanging flower pot and a wind chime.
This week- we have a nephew turning 16 (holy crap I am not sure where the time went...just yesterday he was 4). On Sunday my baby girl turns 3! (yikes I am not sure where the last 3 years went...I honestly feel like I just had her).
School stuff- we have track and field day, a field trip, school picnic, Braxton's end of the year celebration, and just the regular school shuffle!
I can't forget all the doctor appointments we have going too. I can't wait to have summer break though! the nice weather is slowly arriving and it makes me want to be at the cabin swimming and camping.

Kindergarten Registration
I just have to say that our school secretary goes above and beyond to make the kids feel special on this day!
Braxton had a 8am appointment to get started. He had kindergarten screening (counting, shapes, colors, drawing a picture of himself and writing his name), motor skills fun (catching a bean bag, hopping on one foot, skipping, cutting, building with blocks, touching each finger to his thumb), speech evaluation (naming items, letter sounds, letter recognition), health nurse (made sure immunizations were up to date), MI ID Kid (fingerprints, picture, video interview, dental impressions), Bus ride, a school tour, story time.
The kids come home with so many goodies. Lots of workbooks to keep their skills up for the new school year, a big helium Mickey Mouse Balloon, cupcakes, slushies, stickers, pencils, Mickey Mouse pillow, sunglasses, Critter pencil case (Braxton got a puppy), a NL bag, a 48 piece puzzle.
It is such a fun and exciting day for the kids. Braxton can't wait for kindergarten!

Another week gone
Well Spring Break is gone and that means Summer break is coming. We have roughly 43 school days left and summer break will be here.
Spring break wasn't a whole lot of fun since Makenzi was recovering from her surgery. She did amazingly well though. We went through lots of tylenol (over 2 bottles) since her prescribed pain meds made her so sick to her stomach. I ate a whole carton of ice cream even though she only ate 1 bowl. Her favorite food was McDonalds Fish sandwiches. She did manage to lose about 8 pounds this past week which was expected. Around Thursday (1 week post surgery) we finally seen a real turning point. She was smiling again. She got to have a little fun over spring break. She spent a night at grandma's house with her cousin one night, was able to spend some time walking around the pond, riding the fourwheeler etc.
Saturday we took the kids to Ann Arbor to the Natural History Museum so they could see the Dinosaur exhibit. They had so much fun. Even Arianna who doesn't like dinosaurs (her words) enjoyed herself.
Sunday the weather was beautiful so we spent the entire day outside. We cleaned the yard, flowerbeds, went for walks, played catch with the baseball. Poor Kenzi missed a throw from her dad and got hit right in the eye. She has a nice black eye to go back to school with, but no big deal.
Overall Spring break was long, but the last 4 days were fun!!

How much
How much can ONE person honestly handle? I know they say God never gives you more than you can handle, he must think I am one strong mama that can handle the world on her shoulders.
This week is crazy busy.
Sunday afternoon- Braxton comes down with the stomach flu. Normally it would be a HUGE deal but see Makenzi is scheduled for surgery this week and we MUST keep her healthy. My hands are so raw and sore from washing my hands every 5 minutes yesterday and all night long as the boy was sick.
Monday- Braxton is home and recovering. Still had a headache this morning but is eating and drinking and playing!!
Tuesday- Doctor appt for Arianna to have her tubes/ear infections checked. Preschool run, Braxton has his last religion class and Makenzi has her first grade play.
Wednesday- I have to register for my fall college classes.
Thursday- Makenzi has to be at the hospital at 830am. Her surgery is scheduled for 945am. Makenzi is a very anxious and nervous child. This is going to be a very nerve wracking day for her. After the procedure we will spend at least 4 hours in the hospital in recovery.
Friday- we will be at home recovering hopeful as easy as it can possibly be.
PLEASE pray or send positive thoughts that Makenzi and myself stay healthy this week. That the surgery goes smooth with no complications and that recovery is as quick and smooth as possible. I really appreciate it.
