Kindergarten Registration

I just have to say that our school secretary goes above and beyond to make the kids feel special on this day!

Braxton had a 8am appointment to get started.  He had kindergarten screening (counting, shapes, colors, drawing a picture of himself and writing his name), motor skills fun (catching a bean bag, hopping on one foot, skipping, cutting, building with blocks, touching each finger to his thumb), speech evaluation (naming items, letter sounds, letter recognition), health nurse (made sure immunizations were up to date), MI ID Kid (fingerprints, picture, video interview, dental impressions), Bus ride, a school tour, story time.

The kids come home with so many goodies.  Lots of workbooks to keep their skills up for the new school year, a big helium Mickey Mouse Balloon, cupcakes, slushies, stickers, pencils, Mickey Mouse pillow, sunglasses, Critter pencil case (Braxton got a puppy), a NL bag, a 48 piece puzzle.

It is such a fun and exciting day for the kids.  Braxton can't wait for kindergarten!

Another week gone

Well Spring Break is gone and that means Summer break is coming.  We have roughly 43 school days left and summer break will be here.

Spring break wasn't a whole lot of fun since Makenzi was recovering from her surgery.  She did amazingly well though.  We went through lots of tylenol (over 2 bottles) since her prescribed pain meds made her so sick to her stomach.  I ate a whole carton of ice cream even though she only ate 1 bowl.  Her favorite food was McDonalds Fish sandwiches.  She did manage to lose about 8 pounds this past week which was expected.  Around Thursday (1 week post surgery) we finally seen a real turning point.  She was smiling again.  She got to have a little fun over spring break.  She spent a night at grandma's house with her cousin one night, was able to spend some time walking around the pond, riding the fourwheeler etc.

Saturday we took the kids to Ann Arbor to the Natural History Museum so they could see the Dinosaur exhibit.  They had so much fun.  Even Arianna who doesn't like dinosaurs (her words) enjoyed herself.

Sunday the weather was beautiful so we spent the entire day outside.  We cleaned the yard, flowerbeds, went for walks, played catch with the baseball.  Poor Kenzi missed a throw from her dad and got hit right in the eye.  She has a nice black eye to go back to school with, but no big deal.

Overall Spring break was long, but the last 4 days were fun!!

How much

How much can ONE person honestly handle?  I know they say God never gives you more than you can handle, he must think I am one strong mama that can handle the world on her shoulders.

This week is crazy busy.

Sunday afternoon- Braxton comes down with the stomach flu.  Normally it would be a HUGE deal but see Makenzi is scheduled for surgery this week and we MUST keep her healthy.  My hands are so raw and sore from washing my hands every 5 minutes yesterday and all night long as the boy was sick.

Monday- Braxton is home and recovering.  Still had a headache this morning but is eating and drinking and playing!!

Tuesday- Doctor appt for Arianna to have her tubes/ear infections checked.  Preschool run, Braxton has his last religion class and Makenzi has her first grade play.

Wednesday-  I have to register for my fall college classes.

Thursday- Makenzi has to be at the hospital at 830am.  Her surgery is scheduled for 945am.  Makenzi is a  very anxious and nervous child.  This is going to be a very nerve wracking day for her.  After the procedure we will spend at least 4 hours in the hospital in recovery.

Friday- we will be at home recovering hopeful as easy as it can possibly be.

PLEASE pray or send positive thoughts that Makenzi and myself stay healthy this week.  That the surgery goes smooth with no complications and that recovery is as quick and smooth as possible.  I really appreciate it.

My little boy

Isn't so little anymore.  Braxton turns 5 years old tomorrow.  I don't know where the time has gone.

5 years ago today Scott and I were packing our hospital bags, making sure the car seat was in the car and ready to go for the trip home.  See I was only 37 weeks along and figured we had a few more weeks to get ready.  We spent the night watching movies and playing video games after we tucked Makenzi into bed.  The next morning we were off to the hospital.

The next morning we dropped Makenzi off at my mom and dad's house and we were off to the hospital.  Things went faster than I expected them too.  I figured he wouldn't be born until the 16th since my labor with Makenzi was so long.  Well 14 hours after starting the induction I was a mom to a healthy little boy.

Braxton Charles Adam joined our family at 11:38pm on Wednesday February 15th, 2006.  He weighed in at 6lbs 8oz and 19.5 inches.

Not long after he was born!
Our little guy is 1 years old!
2 years old and loving on his baby sister!
                                            3 years old at Easter!
4 years old and can swim by himself!
5 years old and getting very big!!

Braxton you are a very special guy who is going to do awesome things in life!  We love watching you grow and change, you keep us on our toes!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Makenzi and Scott went to a daddy daughter dance at Kenzi's school.  It was her first year going and she was so excited.  They had a nice dinner provided, lots of dancing time, and pictures taken.

Here are some that Scott took at the dance:

Hello 2011

The New Year is here and I am anxious to see what it brings to us!

Friday night (NYE) we had friends over and celebrated my husband's 29th birthday!  I made him an awesome dinner of BBQ ribs, stuffing, salad, and baked beans...his favorite meal!  We had cake and ice cream and then we put the kids to bed at normal bed time.  We had a lot of good conversation and then played the Wii...I had just bought Just Dance so we had to try it out.  We had lots of fun!

New Years Day, we headed to my parent's house where my husband and dad took off to go hunting!  The kids and I hung out with my mom.  It was a nice relaxing day!

Our hopes for 2011:

~  To have health in our family which means no ER Visits, No Ambulances, No hospital admittances, No emergency doctor visits.
~ To have peace and relaxation
~ To have a good financial year
~ To enjoy watching our children grow and see their personalities continue to grow.
~ To spend time with my husband.
~ To take a several mini vacations, making lots of memories with our children.

Then seeing what else comes our way.  I wish everybody a year filled with health and happiness!
